Sommelier
DECANTsf has a very hands-on hybrid retail and wine bar service style. All staff members, including owners, are a part of all aspects of service. The Sommelier position includes retail customer service and sales, bar and patio service, prepping food items, dish-washing, glass polishing, restocking and general side work related to the maintenance and cleanliness of our space.
We are looking for an industrious candidate who can hit the ground running with a service-focused mindset, and a strong base wine knowledge to help drive wine sales both in-house and to-go. Candidates should be comfortable multi-tasking between taking care of retail customers while also hosting active bar patrons.
The ideal candidate should be willing to work up to 2-3 shifts per week, Friday through Sundays. Shifts will generally be 6-7 hours per shift.
Hourly compensation begins at $20/hour, based on experience, plus tips.
Minimum experience desired:
- Minimum Level 2 CMS Certified Sommelier OR Level 3 WSET
- Minimum 2 years FOH experience in wine-focused restaurant and/or retail, or similar experience in working in wine sales or education for importers/suppliers/wineries.
- ServeSafe alcohol and/or food handler certified, or will complete certification before end of training.
