Ettore Germano 2016 'Lazzarito' Barolo Riserva, Piemonte, Italy
If Barolo had a Grand Cru, Lazzarito would be it.
Winemaker: Sergio Germano
Farming: Certified Organic
Variety: Nebbiolo
Terroir: Old vines (planted 1931)320 M elevation, SW Facing, Limestone and marl
Vinification: 55 days maceration, controlled low temperature fermentation in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts
Aging: 36 months in botti, 24 months in bottle
Winemaker's Tasting Note: The perfumes of small red fruit combine with the aromas of brown spices and licorice. In the mouth, the entry is fine and elegant, and the wine finishes with sweet tannins, which suggests that it would go well with various red meats or cheese, as well as being a fine accompaniment to the conversation after dinner.
