Marchesi di Grésy is made up of four estates situated in the Langhe and the Monferrato zones and is recognized for producing many of the Piedmont region’s greatest wines. In the late 1960s, Alberto di Grésy began supervising the family’s agricultural operations, concluding early on that he did not want to continue selling his grapes to the area’s finest wine producers but instead to capture their elegance in-house. In 1973 he began making his own wine, adhering to the highest quality standards and respect for terroir

Winemaker: Matteo Sasso

Farming: Practicing Organic

Variety: Nebbiolo

Terroir: Located within the amphitheater-shaped monopole of 'Martinenga', 'Camp Gros' is the smaller plot within that expresses the power and structure of Martinenga. The 35-40 year old vines are planted in limestone and blue marl, with southern exposure and elevations ranging from 820 to 918 feet.

Vinification: Selected yeasts. 10-14 day fermentation with submerged cap.

Aging: The wine is aged 12-15 months in barriques and an additional 12-18 months in Slavonian oak casks. An additional 26 months of aging occurs in bottle.

Tasting notes: Warming, bold and herbaceous, this Barbaresco carries the essence of powerfully made Nebbiolo. Black cherry, wild strawberry, dried hibiscus and eucalyptus. Chewy, dense tannin give way to a robust, long finish. This wine will age well with the decades.
